Blog Sree Vijaykumar | From the Editor's Desk An interesting aspect of Mr Chandrababu Naidu's massive new capital city project Amaravati is the land pooling concept, allowing his government to get hold of 33,000 acres of land within a few months. The land owners will get a residential/commercial plot in the new city, as well as an annual compensation of Rs 30,000 - Rs 50,000, which increases 10% every year. While the central government struggles to get the land bill passed, such alternate structures can be considered by other state governments to speed up projects. While there are several variables (including Mr Naidu's re-election in 2 subsequent elections) that could affect the fate of Amaravati, it is perhaps a vote of confidence on Mr Naidu's execution abilities that land prices in the area have already shot up to nearly match that of Cyberabad - Comment | |
