With India producing 1 million job-seekers a month, domestic demand alone cannot sustain this workforce. At the same time, the world is ageing quickly (Germany, Italy and Japan already have more than 20% of their populations above the age of 65). Skill-based immigration is how they will solve the problem of their dwindling workforces and this is an opportunity for a young country like India (with more than half its population under the age of 35 years). However, the demand-supply match has many issues including swindling middlemen, skill mismatches and resume fraud. Rajiv Dabhadkar elaborates on this issue in this article.
