As Winfred Gallagher argues in his book 'New', a healthy information diet requires the self-control necessary to focus on the nutritious new things that have long-term value and ignore the junk that compromises our mental and emotional fitness. Empty Internet calories can play havoc with your information metabolism and interfere with your ability to think, but like greasy fries and supersized sodas, the bad stuff doesn't force itself on us.
